The Secret World of Amazon Reviewers
The Cornell Chronicle

Well, it seems that folks who write reviews for Amazon may get payola from corporate PR practitioners, according to The Secret World of Amazon Reviewers, a study in an obscure university publication that unleashed outrage from the opinionated John Dvorek in a PC Magazine article entitled Are Amazon Reviews Corrupt? Mainstream journalists would never accept a lunch, cocktail, trinket or review copy from a corporate PR department. And, they would never even think of accepting air transportation to a corporate event or to get free use of a car to test and review. Only Amazon reviewers can be corrupted, not true journalists, it seems.
