CyberAlert Awards Annual PR Grants to 22 Non-Profit Organizations

Stratford, CT — 01/27/2009 — CyberAlert LLC, a worldwide media monitoring, press clipping and TV news monitoring service, today announced the 22 recipients of its 2009 Public Relations (PR) Grants to Not-for-Profit Organizations in the United States and Canada. Each grant is for one free year of online news monitoring service using CyberAlert® 4.0, which monitors 35,000+ online news sources worldwide in 25+ languages, and CyberAlert TV, which monitors all network and local news programs on local TV stations in the Top 100 U.S. markets.

In announcing the award recipients, William J. Comcowich, president and CEO of CyberAlert stated: "This year the vast majority of PR grants centered on providing support services to individuals. The work these organizations and their volunteers do to make the lives of others better is truly magnificent. We're very pleased that CyberAlert can effectively help these caring not-for-profit organizations."

The total retail value of this year's grants exceeds $70,000. Since starting the PR Grants program in 2004, CyberAlert has awarded a total of 124 grants with a retail value of more than $300,000.

The 2009 award recipients are located in eleven different states (CA, CT, FL, GA, IL, NC, NY, TX, UT, WA, WI), the District of Columbia, and one Canadian province (Ontario). The recipients range from major international organizations such as Rotary International to small advocacy groups such as Military Spouses for Change and

Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association
Ottawa, Ontario CHPCA is the national association which provides leadership in hospice palliative care in Canada, offering leadership in public education, policy, research and care for persons approaching death to lessen the burdens of suffering, loneliness and grief.
New York, NY Provides free support services including education, financial and practical help by professional oncology social workers to anyone facing cancer: people with cancer, caregivers, children, loved ones and the bereaved.
Children's Wish Foundation (Canada)
Pickering, Ontario Grants wishes for children with life-threatening illnesses.
Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation
Avon, CT Family support organization helps ensure early and accurate diagnosis of CdLS, promotes research into the causes and manifestations of the syndrome, and help people with a diagnosis of CdLS make informed decisions about their condition.
Drugs for Neglected Diseases Initiative
New York, NY Not-for-profit pharmaceutical research and development organization working on new treatments for a group of deadly parasitic infections that persist in the world's poorest, most marginalized communities. Diseases include sleeping sickness, leishmaniasis, Chagas disease, and malaria.
Family Caregiver Alliance
San Francisco, CA National resource center for friends and family providing care at home for loved ones with chronic, debilitating health conditions such as Alzheimer's disease, stroke, traumatic brain injury and others.
Foreign Service Youth Foundation
Washington, DC Supports internationally-mobile youth as they transition between the United States and countries worldwide in connection with U.S. foreign affairs agencies. Recognizes the unique needs and contributions of Foreign Service youth by offering workshops, special events, contests, awards, newsletters and an online community.
Fresh Start Surgical Gifts
Carlsbad, CA Through the gift of reconstructive surgery, laser treatments, speech therapy and dental procedures, Fresh Start Surgical Gifts transforms the lives of disadvantaged children and young people with physical deformities caused by birth defects, accidents abuse or disease.
Give Kids the World
Kissimmee, FL A 70-acre, non-profit resort in Central Florida has created magical memories for more than 90,000 children with life-threatening illnesses and their families with a weeklong, cost-free fantasy vacation.
Just Yell Fire
Vancouver, WA Provides educational programs showing girls ages 11 to 19 how to avoid, get away and protect themselves from rape, abduction and sex trafficking, while empowering girls with a Dating Bill of Rights in order to foster healthy dating relationships. Military Spouses for Change
Copperas Cove, TX Seeks to educate, empower and provide services to spouses of military service members and veterans, enabling them to advocate for the military community and helping ensure that the needs of the military community are appropriately identified and met.
National Institute of Statistical Sciences
Research Triangle Park, NC Seeks to identify, catalyze and foster high-impact, cross-disciplinary research involving the statistical sciences by conducting research projects in bioinformatics, data confidentiality, data integration, data quality, information technology, the environment, education statistics, large, complex databases, and computer model evaluation.
National Lung Cancer Partnership
Madison, WI Funds lung cancer research, provides education to lung cancer professionals and patients, performs community outreach, and advocates for increases in lung cancer research funding.
Postpartum Support International
Santa Barbara, CA Self-help network provides information to increase awareness of postpartum depression among healthcare professionals and the public; provides support to women with symptoms of postpartum depression and related illnesses; advocates for research and legislation to support perinatal mental health.
Rotary International
Evanston, IL A volunteer organization of 1.2 million business and professional leaders worldwide to provide humanitarian services and help build goodwill and peace. The flagship project is to eradicate polio worldwide.
St. Baldrick's Foundation
Pasadena, CA Conducts head-shaving events to raise awareness and funds to cure childhood cancer by supporting cancer research and fellowships.
Triplet Connection, The
Spring City, UT Provides education and emotional support to families who are expecting or raising triplets, quadruplets or more.
U.S. Business Leadership Network
Washington, DC Promotes best practices in hiring, retaining and marketing to people with disabilities. Sponsors disability mentoring, internship, and training programs.
Vision of Children Foundation
San Diego, CA Seeks to cure hereditary childhood blindness and vision disorders, and to improve the quality of life of visually impaired individuals and their families.
Atlanta, GA Voter education and advocacy for affordable healthcare for all.

Mr. Comcowich affirmed the company's continued support of the PR grants program. Over 200 not-for-profit organizations applied to CyberAlert for the PR grants.

The CyberAlert selection process favored national and international organizations. The selection process also favored organizations that demonstrated a need for media monitoring and proposed plans to utilize the service and the resulting news clips in innovative ways.

A list of previous PR Grant Recipients is available on the CyberAlert Website. Grant applications are accepted throughout the year and reviewed at the end of the year.
